How languages work in Pulseform
Pulseform speaks several languages, at three different levels. Knowing which is which saves a lot of confusion.
The three levels
| What | Languages | Who chooses |
|---|---|---|
| The platform's screens (menus, buttons, messages) | Arabic, English | Each user, for themselves |
| The Collect app's screens | Arabic, English | Each collector, on their device |
| Your survey's questions, as respondents see them | Arabic, English, French, Turkish, Russian | You choose which ones, and approve each one |
Platform screens
Every user can switch the platform between Arabic and English with the language switcher at the top of the screen. This changes only the screens, not your data.
Survey questions for respondents
You write your survey once, in its original language. Pulseform can then translate the questions and options into other languages, so every respondent answers in the language they understand best.
The key points:
- You choose which languages to offer.
- The translation is done automatically, but no respondent sees it until you read and approve it. See Review and approve translations.
- Answers are always saved in the survey's original language, whatever language the respondent used. Your results stay in one language, and can be compared.
- The same approved languages are offered on the public survey link and in the Collect app.
Text in monitoring records
Text you write in monitoring records, such as activity descriptions or complaint messages, can be translated automatically when someone views it in the other language. It's a machine translation for reading only. The original text is always kept as you wrote it.
