For votes and confidential surveys

One answer per person, and no way to know who said what

For an election, a confidential staff survey or any vote where it matters who may answer: send each person on your list a personal link, accept one answer each, and choose whether the platform can ever connect a person to their answer. Four independent switches, on any form.

The four switches

1

Invitation-only roll

Only people on the participant list can answer, each through a personal link. The public link, the in-app page and the Collect app turn everyone else away.

2

Secret mode

The platform records that a person answered but not what they answered. Submissions carry no name, IP address or browser string, and their time is moved to the start of the day.

3

Sealed results

Until the form's closing date passes, only the number of answers and the turnout are shown: no tally, no chart, no export. The seal lifts by itself at closing.

4

Locked records

Once the first answer arrives, answers cannot be deleted, CSV import is disabled and the fields and options are frozen. The lock cannot be removed after voting starts.

5

Links by email or text message

Send each participant their personal link by email, or by text message paid from your SMS credit. A new link replaces any earlier one.

6

Use one switch or all four

The switches are independent. The only rule: sealed results need a closing date, and secret mode cannot be used with file upload fields.

Run a confidential vote in three steps

  1. 1 Create a form and open Settings, then the Participation tab, and turn on the switches you need.
  2. 2 Add your participants and send each one a personal link.
  3. 3 Follow the turnout; with sealed results on, the full results open when the closing date passes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not with secret mode on. The record that a person answered is kept apart from what they answered, in the database itself, and nothing links the two.
No. It suits any time one person should answer once and their answer stays confidential: staff surveys, member consultations, board decisions.
No. A form that accepts answers only through personal links is answered online through those links; the Collect app refuses it.
An active paid Forms subscription. Text-message invitations also use SMS credit.
